MAXIMIZING THE KAIROS MOMENT

As disciples of Jesus Christ , we are all expected to constantly maximise kairos moments in our journey of faith , especially in our call to be effective watchmen and women. The power of prayer and the importance of staying vigilant in our faith. In the Gospel of Matthew, we read about a powerful moment between Jesus and his disciple, Peter, that teaches us an important lesson about prayer and temptation.

In Matthew 26:40-41, we read, “Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. He said to Peter, ‘Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!’ Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, ‘My Father!'”

In this moment, Jesus was asking his disciples to stay alert and pray with him. He knew that temptation was coming, and he wanted them to be prepared for it. But when Jesus returned from his own prayer time, he found the disciples sleeping. He was disappointed in Peter and the others for not staying vigilant.

The lesson that we can take from this moment is that prayer is powerful. It can strengthen us in times of weakness and prepare us for the temptations that we will inevitably face. But prayer requires discipline and perseverance. It requires us to stay alert and stay focused on our faith, even when we may feel tired or discouraged.

Jesus understood the importance of prayer, and he modeled it for us throughout his life. He often went away to pray alone, seeking guidance and strength from his Father in heaven. And he encouraged his disciples to do the same.

In the same way, we need to prioritize prayer in our own lives. We need to make time to seek God’s presence and guidance, especially in times of temptation and struggle. We need to pray for strength and perseverance, so that we can resist the devil’s temptations and stay true to our faith.

But prayer is not just about asking for help. It is also about listening for God’s voice and being open to his guidance. When we pray, we invite the Holy Spirit to work in our hearts and minds, guiding us in the right direction and helping us to discern the truth.

This is a great reminder that whilst  we get involved in several assignments ,  our highest calling is to watch for God and to have our eyes and ears trained upon Him.
And to be alert to what He is doing.
Then as we do, the anointing that is on Him flows onto us.

We see this visibly in the Bible, for when Moses came out of spending time in God’s Presence, his face shone brightly! (Exodus 34:29)

Exodus 34:29– 29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.
So, watching for God—having face-to-face time with Him—is the “superpower” o
f a Disciple for Jesus Christ

So let us remember the lesson that Jesus taught his disciples that night in the garden. Let us stay vigilant in our faith, staying alert and focused on God’s will. And let us prioritize prayer in our lives, seeking God’s presence and guidance in all that we do.

May we be strengthened and encouraged by the power of prayer, and may we always stay vigilant in our faith, trusting in God’s love and grace.
